HUGE Win for the Sun Devils In a convincing 11-0 victory over the third place Richmond Hill team, the boys continued their winning streak at home. With a strong offensive showing and an even more stellar defensive display, the Sun Devils limited the opposition to just a few shots on goal. My dad (NICOLA RIGA) was the BIGGEST fan of our kids. He loved watching our boys and mostly his grandson Emile play. Soccer was in his blood , his last thing he ever saw on TV was a MILAN soccer game and because of that loved he loved that Emile played soccer. I guess he was like another manager for me....giving me advice before and after games. At age 81 he was one of the smartest men I knew. Our Riga family really miss him and would like to keep on our website this photo of him with us the day of Emile's Birthday party when he was with us all enjoying the party this past NOV. 2008 Season Highlights
Congratulations Glen Shields Sun Devils Congratulations, Sun Devils, on an incredible inaugural soccer season. Led by Coach Riga, our team displayed incredible soccer talent, placing second in our division and scoring an average of almost 7 goals per game, while permitting less than 1 goal a game against us. Displaying superior defence, 8 of our 14 games ended in Shutouts versus the opposing teams. Offensively, led by a balanced attack with many scorers in the double digits this year, Glen Shields was one of the highest scoring offences throughout York Region. Playing everyone equally, the team showed quality depth. Playing an exciting game of ball control, possession and passing, the team has well established a style of play that will outshine teams that are still in the development phase of their ball control game.
